This app is very poorly developed. It automatically syncs your entire store upon install, thus getting you a merchant center suspension right off the bat for products you don't plan to ship or want to advertise on Google, such as items that go freight. And since the content API (your store products) is synced, it's a time consuming pain to start over and then manually add products you want in merchant center. We have 12000 products and we either have to manually unsync every item or pay for a 3rd party app to edit in bulk, since Shopify will NOT export the google/youtube column. Full of glitches like it showsing free shipping on previews when we do not offer free shipping. Do better google, it should not be this cumbersome to set up. UPDATE: Even with google support, we are going in circles. I removed the data source, unchecked every product from the google sales channel, and it STILL imports every product in Merchant Center. Tech support doesn't read the email chain and just provides the same cut and paste answers. Still frustrated
Hi - sorry for the confusion. We'll update our Help Center to better highlight you should select Manual Product Sync during onboarding if you don't want products to sync right away.
In the meantime, if you go to the Products Page in Shopify, and can filter by freight products, the 3 dot menu next to Set As Draft lets you "Exclude from Sales Channels" in bulk. If you have a way to find all of your products (I.e "timpani" in the title, or Type or Tag), then you can quickly exclude from Sales Channel. Since these products aren't able to be checked out on your website or on Google, they'd have to be excluded completely, since even adding a Freight shipping settings would not apply.
Additionally, you are syncing Shipping Settings from Shopify automatically as well. This means whatever shipping you set up in Merchant Center manually will get overwritten by the Shipping data in Shopify > Settings > Shipping and Delivery > General Shipping Profile. I'm assuming you'll want to change the Shipping Sync to Manual in order to keep your UPS Ground settings in Merchant Center, since you don't have any General Shipping Rates set up for your market. With an automatic shipping sync, we are getting no shipping rates synced to Merchant Center, which will keep wiping out your manually set shipping settings in Merchant Center.
This will ensure that A) Freight Items are excluded from the Google & YouTube App (you'll need to turn Product Sync back to Automatic to make these changes occur) and B) Shipping settings in Merchant Center don't get wiped out since you're missing General Shipping Rates in Shopify today
Initial Frustration, But Ultimately Resolved
Using the Google & YouTube app was initially an incredibly frustrating experience. My account was repeatedly suspended for supposed policy violations that didn’t exist, and every time I resolved one issue, another seemed to appear out of nowhere.
At one point, my site was even flagged as "parked" despite being fully functional. Contacting support felt unhelpful at first, as the only recommendation was to submit yet another re-evaluation.
That said, I appreciate that the support team ultimately resolved the problem fairly quickly, and my account is now back to normal. While the experience was rocky, I’m glad things were eventually sorted out.
Hi, sorry for the frustration. It looks like your website was flagged as being parked but 45 minutes later the flag was removed and you're live with no account issues.
I AGREE WITH LUCY STORE'S COMMENT BELOW. OH MY GOODNESS, THIS IS THE WORST UN-USER FRIENDLY APP, THESE PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR GOOGLE FOUND ANY REASON TO SUSPEND MY MERCHANT CENTER ACCOUNT, GOOGLE ADS, AND GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE..YET STILL HAD MY GOOGLE ADS RUNNING AND CHARGING ME MONEY..THEY GIVE VERY VAGUE FEEDBACK AND THROW A BUNCH OF POLICIES AT YOU AND SAY YOU VIOLATED THEM, LIKE YOU SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT EXACTLY YOU DID TO VIOLATE THEM, WHICH GOOGLE DOES NOT CARE TO TELL YOU THAT INFORMATION. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TALK TO ANY PERSON. I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH THEY EXHIBIT HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE THEY MAKE NO ATTEMPT TO HELP YOU FIX OR RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS THEY KEEP TELLING YOU HAVE. i advise everyone not to waste time with this app and google shopping, i spent years building a store and one fine day they will suspend google merchant and your ads without any reason, emails are sent automatically: we found a bug, we found a bug,... endlessly repeated, no friendly cooperation with this platform, i spent time and effort working and complying with hundreds of policy violations ...

None of my 1000+ products are showing on Google Shopping Tab. And "Product Snippets" under Google Search Console shows only 4. Seems like this app is not generating rich snippets properly. It's been months but zero visibility on google while my same products are generating thousands of orders on Amazon. Things are complex to setup on merchant center, search console, analytics etc and still zero results. On top of it, Merchant Center's "Store Quality" shows incomplete shipping policy and return policy even though this app has synced it.
Hi - unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be a problem with the app. We are properly syncing all of your products across your India market, and all Data and attributes are coming through, as well as domain claiming and shop settings all syncing as expected. Since you are reviewing the app, and the app is working in all aspects, I'm not able to address your lack of sales, but it is not due to any issues or failures of the app syncing. My only suggestion would be to follow the recommendations in Merchant Center to increase your store quality rating. It does say you could add Return Costs to your store, since you're missing that value. The app syncs your Shipping Settings but it does not sync your return policy from Shopify, so right now you have a 0-day return window and no defined return costs. You should probably add your return policy to Merchant Center where it says "Set Up Your Return Service" in red.
You could also look into running ad campaigns, but that is not my area of expertise. If you do notice an issue with the app please use the Contact Support link in the app navigation to send us a ticket, but there doesn't seem to be any bugs that I can fix for you right now.
Absolute worst app ever as is the whole google multiplex of overly complex apps accounts and systems.
Everything is a nightmare, so insanely complex to try and setup to track conversions, I have never been able to do it, there is always some issue, error, bug, etc.
On google alone you have to setup a business manager account, merchant center account, search console account, analytics account, google ads account, youtube google shopify app, then try to link all of the above together, install code on every page, create custom events, troubleshoot it endlessly when it does not work off the bat (NEVER DOES!!).
I mean, are you kidding me???? all this to track a conversion?? what year are we living in. Feels like going back in time to the 90's to make of this work. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME
Hi! Good news! If all you're doing is conversions, you only need to set up that conversion tracking. You don't need to link to Merchant Center or even Ads if you aren't using those tools. There should be no need for you to set up a YouTube channel just to track website conversion data. We do provide all these options should you want to add on GA4, or Merchant Center, or YouTube, or Local Ads, but it is definitely not a requirement to click through every program onboarding if all you want is to turn Conversion Tags on. You don't even need install custom code (the app does that tagging for you), and you definitely don't need to create custom events - you can use the defaults in the settings and that works for 95% of our users.

Excellent wasnt easy to set up but i have manage i am so happy now that i am able to post articles and advertise on all platforms thanks to google tha makes this possible
This app works great for me and my business! It took me a while to get to know Google's advertising products and to gain basic skills in digital marketing in general, because Google's products are created by some of the most intelligent people on the planet. Thank you for everything, Google team!

Our Shopify products are automatically generated with SKU numbers when they are synced to Google Merchant Center via the Google & YouTube app, rather than the SKUs we manually entered in Shopify. This has caused us significant difficulties.
Hello - we will utilize Shopify's Global ID format on product exporting, since they give a unique product and variant ID for EVERY product in your database, and it will be unique across the entire ecosystem. Since "SKU" field in Shopify is not required, and can be duplicated, it would cause issues in Google if we tried to use that as our unique identifier on products, since some products would be missing it, and others would be duplicated.
If you need SKU to persist into Google, we'd recommend adding those values to the Google MPN field in Shopify > Products > Metafields > Google MPN. This would let you see this field in Google Merchant Center by adding the MPN Column in the all products view.

Google has become one of the worse companies to deal with nowadays. You'd basically have to employ a fulltime person just to deal with the sheer volume of errors, blocks, 'fixes', 'bans', 'verifications', and it goes on and on and on and on. One second they claim you're selling 'dangerous products' (we don't), or that we have no shipping information (we do), that we are missing gtin (we don'r), or that there is 'misrepresentation' (we don't, for 10 years).
Google appears to think you have nothing else to do with your business or your life than to be a full-time Google account manager to deal with their mess, and this is how they've designed their now impossible-to-deal with "service".
I wish Google was replaced by a different company altogether. Maybe they can be bought up, or shut down, or replaced completely. It's a mess.

I'm now looking to add multiple feed based on each market (belgium, germany...etc) but can't find the option. I've read in the comments that you are going to extend this during the next month ?
In the meantime i saw a workaround but don't understand how to do this "You can add countries to your existing feed in Merchant Center by editing the Content API countries." ?

Hi! Yes we are in the process of migrating everyone to the new feed management system. You should see it shortly, if you haven't already.
Merchants who have been migrated already will receive an email notification and a banner on their Google & YouTube App page. You will also be able to access the Country Selections under Google & YouTube App > Settings > Your product feed settings > Countries and languages > Manage
here you can select Automatic (We will always attempt to use the same countries in Google that you have in Shopify as a Market with valid shipping rates) or Manual (You can check and uncheck eligible countries to show on Google yourself)
