This app is a total scam, they charge you $25 right away and it is not free 14 day trial. They do not refund the money back even if you cancel the app within two days. Stay away from this app is a total scam.

Hi there,

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you sharing your feedback.

We’d like to clarify that our app offers a free plan, and paid plans are only activated when a user manually approves the upgrade through Shopify’s billing screen. Once a charge is approved, Shopify handles all billing and fund transfers.

After receiving your email, our team responded promptly requesting a copy of the invoice so we could validate and process your refund. However, it looks like the message may not have been seen on your end.

That said, we’ve already gone ahead and processed a full refund for the $24.99 charge as a courtesy. We’ve also sent a confirmation email with a screenshot of the refund transaction for your reference. If you experience any delays, Shopify Support can assist, as they handle the settlement process.

We’re here if you need anything else and truly regret that your experience didn’t reflect the standard of service we aim for.

Warm regards,
Pat – Booster SEO Team

I've been waiting for almost half a year now on an update while the app isn't working. The people keep telling me things will be alights, but they won't. The product is outdated and doesn't work on my theme.

Hi Hein,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us — I completely understand your frustration, and I want to assure you that your case has never left our radar.

The issue you're experiencing stems from a rare conflict between your store’s theme configuration and some recent updates on Shopify’s end. This conflict is preventing the app from working seamlessly with your theme, and it requires a specific technical solution. Our engineering team is working closely with Shopify to fully resolve this, but because of the complexity of the issue, it’s taking some time to ensure that everything is properly aligned and functioning.

Our team has been thoroughly investigating this, and while it’s still in progress, we’re making steady headway. We fully appreciate how important it is for you to have a smooth and reliable experience with the app, and we’re committed to getting this resolved for you.

In the meantime, I’ve sent you an email with further details on the issue, and once the fix is implemented, we’ll ensure that the app will function as expected within your store’s environment.

If you have any additional questions or if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss, please feel free to reach out. We’re here to help.

Best regards,
Pat

Well I enjoyed the app up until I actually ran it. Lost HUNDREDS of pictures for my items. Some pictures got duplicated, some go rearranged. Support was quick initially but once I had a real issue it was straight to the "email ticketing" system. Meanwhile my website looks horrible with missing pictures. On top of that, my website is connected to ebay so now all of my ebay pictures are also missing....

I will update this if they come through with a quick fix, but otherwise BEWARE!!!

I decided to trial this as an insights tool for what I needed to do for my website but changed my mind given the time of this review for me (6am) only to find out that it has completely destroyed ANY, and ALL SEO changes I had made personally; I feel incredibly sorry for anyone else that decides to uninstall this... There is no recovery for this at all..

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We understand how frustrating this must be, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify what happened.

When Booster SEO is uninstalled, it removes all of our app’s code from your theme. However, due to Shopify’s restrictions, in some themes, the "comment tags" that prevent duplicate SEO tags might not be automatically removed. This can sometimes make it appear as though previous SEO changes were lost.

To resolve this, updating your theme should clear any residual comment tags and restore your SEO settings. You may also need to reach out to your theme developer for further assistance.

We’d love to help you get everything back in order. We’ve sent you an email with more details on how to restore your settings, and we’re happy to assist further if needed. Please feel free to reach out—we’d love the chance to make this right.

Thank you for your patience and for sharing your experience with us.

Best regards,

I installed the Booster SEO app on my Shopify store, but my experience with their support has been frustrating.

I've been trying to get help through their 24/7 support for several days now, but the issue remains unresolved. A Tier 2 agent even requested access to my store but never logged in to address the problem.

Booster SEO provided me with a ticket number, assured me that my issue is a top priority, yet here I am still waiting with no resolution in sight.

As a Shopify user, I rely on apps like Booster SEO to function efficiently, but this lack of support is incredibly disappointing. I hope this post helps bring attention to my unresolved issue and leads to a timely resolution.

A strange review for me I only had it installed for like 5 mins. I wanted to test it to see if I could use it. The free version lets you automatically update Image Alt tags. I was testing this when I got a popup asking to verify the store. I said yes. The person asked me to clarify the store name then asked me to wait "while he made changes". I asked him what changes and are they to my store. Remember at this stage I'd already given the app edit permissions.
He said not to worry they are only "coding changes". I said wait can you clarify you are making NO changes to my store excluding Alt tags on images". This is where I started to get a weird feeling about it. He said "Yes I'm making no changes directly to the frontend of your store" ????
I didn't like the ambiguous answer as that is far from a definitive YES so I uninstalled.
To be honest it could be great I didn't wait around long enough to see but the way direct questions were answered left me doubting them so I left.

Hi there,

Lester here from Booster SEO Tier 2 Support, I've just read your recent review of our app and I truly apologize for any confusion or concern caused during your brief interaction with our support team.

I completely understand how the situation may have felt unclear, and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify. The free plan of our app indeed focuses solely on optimizing image alt texts - nothing beyond that. The store verification process you encountered is simply a security measure to confirm that the store is legitimate (not a bot), which allows us to whitelist the store for our app’s optimizations (image alt text, in your case).

I understand that the terms used by our chat support team may have caused confusion, and I sincerely apologize for the poor choice of words. We’ll ensure our team communicates more clearly moving forward.

That said, we’d love the chance to start over and show you the true value of Booster SEO, so I sent you an email so we can discuss this further and find a way to make things right for you.

Looking forward to your reply!

Best regards,
Lester

This app broke my H1 and description tags, I reached out to support over 3 weeks ago, without a resolution.

I also used the app for a second time and was charged £60 for using it for under 24 hours. I was promised a refund that has still not materialized.

overly expensive, damaging to my website, and unsatisfactory support.

Hi Drew,

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We strive to provide the best support possible, and we regret that your experience didn’t meet your expectations.

Regarding the H1 tags, I’d like to clarify that our app does not have the capability to add or remove H1 tags or modify description tags within your store’s theme files. These elements are typically managed by your Shopify theme or other third-party apps.

To address this, we’ve sent you an email with a detailed resolution and next steps to assist you further. Please don’t hesitate to reply if you have any additional questions or concerns—we’d love the opportunity to make things right.

Thank you for your understanding, and we’re committed to improving your experience moving forward.

This title optimization, decided by the app, is to replace the title I originally wrote with a website link?!!! Absolutely speechless, what kind of optimization is this? Reverse optimization? I uninstalled it and will never use it again.

Free plan broke all of my internal links, 636. Wont be purchasing paid plan. SEM rush certification recommended this, but I do not, at least the free plan. Reverted to my backup and immediately resolved.

Darrell, there's no IF, it did. Why would anyone give you a second chance when the first chance through the free option already created problems with website health. 90%-80%. It seems you could have a strategy to harm internal links by making the case that's only the free plan to motivate to upgrade. Not a good look and the negative reviews out there explain many more problems that tell me to avoid this tool.

Hi Tractor Part Direct,

Darrel here, from Booster SEO Support.

I've read your recent review of our app, and I am so sorry to hear that it caused issues with your internal links.

The free plan of our app is limited to one feature only, optimizing image alt tags (bits of image-related code) so that your product images are ranked higher on Google Images. It is not supposed to touch anything else on your store, unless, you are on one of our paid plans.

However, if our app did affect your internal links, we sincerely apologize, and if you will give our app another chance we will be more than happy to investigate and get to the bottom of this issue.

Should you decide to give our app another go, just respond to the email we've sent you.

Regards,
Darrel

Not impressed at all with this. The app is extremely simplistic in reality. By "fixing alt texts" for example, all it does is duplicate your page title across all images for a product. This duplication would just get you down ranked. It would at least have been useful to add context or some kind of structure to the auto generated alt texts, but control is limited.

It also messed up my meta title and descriptions which I had written myself for every one of my 500+ products. Downgrading my plan undid some of the damage, but I still have a lot to fix now.

Support is also laughable. Very unimpressed with this simplistic and overpriced app. Not a scam, but not far off.

Hi James,

Darrel here from Booster SEO. I want to sincerely apologize for the issues you've encountered and thank you for your feedback.

I understand the frustration with the app's AutoPilot feature not automating everything. Just to clarify, what our app does is use your Product title as the Meta title and Product description as the Meta description by default or if you use the "Let the app decide" option on the AutoPilot page. The idea is that you already have the proper keyword in your Product Title and Description, the main keyword will be your Product Title(since your product title should have the best keyword that describes your product) and in the event that keyword is not in your meta description then the app will let you know that it needs to be added on your product description manually so that it'll be updated in the meta description coming from our app. Our app does do a lot automatically through its AutoPilot features, but some SEO involves keyword-optimizing the visible content of your pages (such as your product descriptions), and our app never does that automatically, for two reasons:

- Google is quite good at detecting (and penalizing) when an app has automatically generated page content, so our app avoids it.

- As an expert in your industry, you are the best judge of what keywords are best and how they should be written into your content, so our app gives you guidance on where keywords are missing but leaves the writing up to you.

Regarding our app's alt-text feature just using the Product title, just like with the meta title and meta description, by default the app will use the Product title and your Store's name for the alt tags. It is designed this way since the best practice for alt tags is to describe the image in three to five words that include your focus keywords, and that keyword will come from your product title.

As you can see, the app relies heavily on your product title for keywords since the product title should be the keyword or contains the keyword that best describes your product. To learn about the most streamlined process for optimizing keywords in our app, and for a more in-depth introduction to keywords, see our guide How to Optimize Keywords for SEO in our Help Site which we sent to you via email.

If you don't want to use the app's default setting for alt tags, meta titles, and meta descriptions, it does provide an option to use other templates. The guide was also sent to you via email.

We would like to extend our apologies for any inconvenience caused and as mentioned above, we sent you an email to properly address your concerns with our app.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Best regards,

Darrel
